Protecting Your Collection

Our Wine Cellar Expertise

Storing wine requires more than a cool basement. To age properly, wine must be kept at a low, consistent temperature and within a specific humidity range. Experts recommend keeping cellars at around 50 °F; if you want to maintain 50 °F in your cellar, the adjacent room where the cooling unit exhausts should stay below 100 °F. A quality cooling system should also handle temperature differences of up to 55 °F between the cellar and the exhaust space. Humidity matters: if humidity is too low, corks shrink and allow air to enter the bottle, spoiling the wine. Excess humidity above 70 % promotes mold and degrades labels. The ideal relative humidity is 50 to 70 %, with 60 % considered optimal. Ventilation is crucial to dissipate heat generated by the cooling unit and maintain stable conditions

Josh installed a cooling system in our wine seller and then a new air conditioning system in our house. He was great, professional, clean and put up with our uncooperative dog, always with a great attitue. The units work great and highly, highly recommend him.
