They provide for the <strong>transfer of a property\u2019s base year value from an existing residence to a replacement residence<\/strong>, under certain conditions, for qualified persons over the age of 55 or persons of any age who are severely and permanently disabled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is exciting news, but how do you know if you qualify?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Both properties must be located in the same county<\/li><li>Seller (or spouse) must be 55+<\/li><li>Original house must be eligible for Homeowner\u2019s Exemption or Disabled Veteran\u2019s Exemption<\/li><li>Replacement home must be equal or lesser value<\/li><li>Replacement home must\u2019ve been acquired within two years of the sale of the original home<\/li><li>Owner must file an application within 3 years of the purchase of replacement home<\/li><li>Original property must be subject to reappraisal at current value<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How do I apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, file a claim with the assessor and then they will determine if the transaction qualifies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wondering if you can file if you own homes in two different counties?
